San José / Saint Joseph, Luisa Roldán

ESP Escultura de barro cocido realizada por Luisa Roldán a finales del s. XVII. La figura de San José alcanzó gran devoción durante el s. XVII, de ahí la proliferación de imágenes del santo con el Niño Jesús en brazos en actitud cariñosa. En esta obra se ahoda en esta relación, con San José enseñándole un pequeño pájaro posado en su mano al Niño. Se encuentra en el convento de las Capuchinas de San Antón, Granada.

ENG Terracotta sculpture made by Luisa Roldán at the end of the 17th century. The figure of Saint Joseph became very popular during the 17th century, hence the proliferation of images of the saint with the Child Jesus in his arms in an affectionate attitude. This work shows this relationship, with Saint Joseph showing a small bird perched in his hand to the Child. It is in the convent of the Capuchin nuns of San Antón, Granada.
